Leupold Deltapoint Pro Review

Let’s take a deep dive into the Leupold Deltapoint pro specifications.

Construction

The Leupold Deltapoint is a sight that’s built to last. It’s constructed with high-quality materials and is built to withstand heavy use and abuse in the field. The housing of the sight is made of lightweight, durable, and corrosion-resistant aluminum and steel sheath top. The steel sheath and rugged aluminum housing are then coated with a finish, which helps to protect it from scratches and wear.

The lenses of the Deltapoint Pro are also built to withstand harsh conditions. They are made of scratch-resistant diamond-coated glass, which provides a clear and bright image even in low-light conditions. The lenses are also treated with a coating that repels water and prevents fogging, ensuring that the sight remains clear and visible in any weather condition.

One of the standout features of the Deltapoint Pro’s construction is its motion sensor technology. The sight is designed to automatically power on when it detects movement, and it powers off after 5 minutes when it’s not in use to conserve battery life. This feature ensures that the sight is always ready to go when you are and helps to extend the life of the battery.

In my opinion, I can say that this Leupold Pro is a sight that’s built with the shooter in mind. I can attest to the high-quality construction material, and I think it will withstand years of use. The advanced features also make it easy to use and highly effective in the field. Whether you’re a competitive shooter or a self-defense enthusiast, the Deltapoint Pro is a sight that you can trust to perform when it matters most.

Battery

The Leupold DP Pro boasts a long-lasting battery life that’s perfect for extended shooting sessions or hunting trips. The battery compartment is located on the top of the sight, making it easy to access and replace. The Deltapoint Pro uses a single 3v CR2032 lithium battery to power the red dot. The CR2032 is a common type of battery used in many electronic devices. This type of battery is widely available and inexpensive, making it easy and affordable to replace when needed.

The battery life of the Deltapoint Pro is not so much to be excited about, and it has a runtime of up to 300  hours on the highest brightness setting. The extended battery life is made possible by the sight’s motion sensor technology, which automatically powers off the sight after some minutes of inactivity to conserve battery life.

In addition to the battery life, the DP Pro also features an easy-to-use battery replacement system. The battery compartment is designed to be opened and closed with a simple shift of a little plastic holding it, making it easy to replace the battery in the field without any special tools or equipment. I love the fact that the battery was positioned on top of the sight, so you do not need to remove the sight from your pistol when you want to change the battery.

Design

The design of the Leupold Delta Point Pro is a testament to the brand’s commitment to quality and functionality. The sight has a sleek design that makes it easy to use and aesthetically pleasing to the eye. The sight’s shape is compact and streamlined, with a squared-off front and rounded top that give it a modern look. The sight window is large and clear, providing an unobstructed view of the target and making it easy to acquire and track targets quickly.

The Deltapoint Pro has a small footprint, measuring just 1.82 inches in length and 1.3 inches in width. The sight is also 1.30 inches high, making it difficult to co-witness the sight with your iron sight. Since the sight comes a little high, it is not compatible with most suppressor sights (it can be used only with high suppressor sights). Because of the limited compatibility with certain suppressor sights, it’s always best to check with the manufacturer or a knowledgeable gunsmith before attempting to use it with a suppressor.

This compact size makes it easy to mount on a variety of firearms and also reduces the weight of the overall setup, making it easier to handle and maneuver. Whether you’re on the range or in the field, the Deltapoint Pro is a sight you can rely on.

Durability

When it comes to durability, the Leupold DPP is built like a tank. It’s designed to withstand the heavy recoil of even the most powerful firearms, making it an ideal choice for shooters who demand the best in terms of durability and toughness. The housing of the sight is made from aluminum, which is known for its strength and durability. This material allows the sight to withstand the most demanding conditions and environments, ensuring that it will perform flawlessly no matter what.

According to various tests and reviews, the Deltapoint Pro can handle thousands of rounds without any issues. This is a testament to its durability and reliability, as even the most rigorous testing has not been able to shake its performance. In addition to its tough construction, the sight is also designed to be waterproof and fog proof. This means that it can handle the harshest weather conditions without compromising its functionality.

Controls

The Leupold Delta Point Pro has one of the most terrible control buttons in my opinion. The tactile feedback is superb, making it easy to feel each click and know exactly how much adjustment is being made. The sight has a push-button located on the battery compartment that allows the user to turn on and off the sight easily. This button also serves as a brightness adjustment, providing a range of settings with multiple clicks to suit different lighting conditions. The buttons themselves are made of high-quality materials, which ensure long-lasting durability and smooth operation.

Adjustment

The Leupold DPP offers two types of adjustments: brightness adjustment and windage and elevation adjustment.

Firstly, the brightness adjustment of the Deltapoint Pro is very versatile. It has a manual brightness adjustment system with eight different settings, making it suitable for use in various lighting conditions. The brightness adjustment buttons are located on the top side of the battery compartment unit and provide tactile feedback when pressed.

To change the brightness level, you need to press the button multiple times. The number of times you need to press the button depends on the current brightness level and the desired brightness level. For example, if you are currently on a lower brightness setting (2) and you want to increase the brightness to a higher setting (6), you need to press the button multiple times until you reach the higher setting. Each time you press the button, the brightness level will increase incrementally, and you need to keep pressing the button until you reach the desired level (2 – 3 – 4 – 5 – 6).

This feature can be useful because it allows you to fine-tune the brightness level to your liking, but it may take some time to adjust the brightness settings to the level you desire. One disadvantage of this feature is that you will not be able to see the current brightness until you remove your hands from the button.

According to the Leupold manual, if you want to reduce the brightness setting after reaching the highest level, you need to press and hold the brightness adjustment button for about two seconds. This will cause the sight to reset back to the lowest brightness level, allowing you to adjust the brightness to the desired level using the same button.

Secondly, the sight also features elevation and windage adjustment. This allows for easy zeroing of the red dot and makes it to be precisely aligned with the target, ensuring accurate shots. The adjustment screws are located on the top and right-hand sides of the unit, respectively. The elevation and windage adjustments are in 1 MOA increments, making it easy to adjust the point of impact. The system features audible and tactile clicks to ensure that each adjustment is precise and consistent. The clicks are easily noticeable and provide satisfying feedback that the user has made a positive adjustment.

Reticle

Reticle

The Leupold Deltapoint Pro features a 2.5 MOA dot reticle, which is small enough to offer precision accuracy while still being easy to acquire and track targets quickly. According to reviewers, the dot is clear, sharp, and crisp, making it easy to aim accurately at short to medium distances. The dot is also adjustable for brightness, allowing for easy adaptation to various lighting conditions.

The reticle also features Motion Sensor Technology (MST), which automatically deactivates the illumination after five minutes of inactivity, saving battery life. The reticle quickly activates as soon as movement is detected, making it easy to pick up and start shooting again.

The Leupold DPP has another reticle size (7.5 MOA dot) that is not so great for precision or competitive shooting.

Glass Clarity

The glass clarity of the Leupold Deltapoint Pro has received praise from various sources. The sight provides excellent clarity and a clear sight picture, even in low light conditions. This is due to its high-quality coated lens that helps to reduce glare and provide a sharp image. Since it is a reflex sight, it also offers shooters unlimited eye relief like other types of red dots (holographic sight).

Furthermore, the sight’s glass clarity is enhanced by its wide field of view, allowing for quick target acquisition and tracking. This feature is especially useful in dynamic shooting scenarios such as competitive shooting or hunting. The sight’s rugged design ensures that it can withstand extreme weather conditions and rough handling without losing its clarity.

Mounting

The Leupold DP Pro offers a variety of mounting options for different firearms, making it versatile and widely usable. The sight can be mounted on different types of firearms, but it is best for handgun use. One of the mounting options of the sight is the cross-slot mount. The sight comes with a cross-slot mount that fits on Picatinny rails. The mount allows for easy installation and removal of the sight and ensures that the sight stays securely in place.

Trijicon RMR

The RMR is a reliable red dot sight that’s built to withstand the harshest conditions. It has a battery life of up to 4 years and is available in several dot sizes. However, the Trijicon RMR is a bit heavier and bulkier than the Deltapoint Pro and is more expensive.

The 507c sight by Holosun is a versatile red dot sight that offers many features at an affordable price. It features a solar panel that provides backup power and is compatible with multiple reticle patterns. However, the Holosun 507c doesn’t have the same level of durability and construction quality as the Deltapoint Pro. I think the great features of the Holosun outweigh those of the Leupold DPP.
